In a relaxed atmosphere, we repoter had the opportunity to chat with two female students from the Netherlands:
Janne Degen from Nijmegen, Netherlands, and Merel van Hecke from Ultrecht, Netherlands.

Photo’s: Mr. Nyoman was very happy to receive a booklet about fine motor skills made by Merel van Hecke and Janne Degen.

We reporter chatted and asked Merel van Hecke, who was the spokesperson, several things to answer some of my questions. Here is Merel van Hecke’s explanation:

1. We came to YPK to pursue our minor. We’re taking the Global Awareness minor. During orientation, we saw YPK and were so intrigued by the organization that we ended up staying in Bali for 16 weeks.

2. We study at the ‘Hoge school van Arnhem & Nijmegen’ (HAN). We’re studying Occupational Therapy in Nijmegen and are currently in our third year. Our total study duration is four years.
3. We were amazed by all the kind people we met in Bali and at YPK. We felt at home on this amazing and beautiful island
4. Our most memorable experience in Bali was Nusa Penida Island, with its beautiful blue sea, white sand, and rocks. It was very different from what we were used to in the Netherlands.

That’s the explanation from Merel van Hecke, who represented her friend Janne Degen to provide the Reporter with the explanation.

What intrigued the Reporter to get to know them better was how cleverly the two Dutch students made use of their time; during their holidays, they traveled and enjoyed the beauty of Bali Island. But when they are studying and completing assignments, they are both very serious and don’t have time to relax and chat about unimportant things.
